Inspired by our iconic "silkies" from the 1930's, we partnered with the same Japanese fabric mills that produced our originals to create an exclusive rayon filament, which we then cut and sew in Hawai'i. With improved printing techniques, our Collector’s Edition shirts have the cool and relaxed look of the original, but with an updated smooth feel.
Atomic is an iconic Kahala heritage print that we’ve re-imagined for this limited series. It’s a bold and animated print that has just enough irreverence to it. This shirt comes with a collector's box that showcases the print through an aloha shirt window front and tells the story of Kahala on the back.

◎1930年代のカハラ、オリジナルの復刻版。
ワイキキの運河に棲む大きな目をもつトロピカルフィッシュに似た魚をメインモチーフとしていますが、よく見るとタツノオトシゴもいます。背面にはバタフライフィッシュやエンジェルフィッシュなどが描かれています。このように生き物の数が豊富で、白抜きで水流を表現するなど動きのある構図は柄が派手に見えるケースが多いですが、実は色数自体は少なく、ベースカラーに3色と白抜きをしただけです。テキスタイルデザイナーのセンスの良さが感じられるこのデザインは、1940年代のカハラ、オリジナルの復刻版になります。1930年代のヴィンテージアロハシャツの布地で象徴的であった「シルク」にインスパイアされ、オリジナルを生産した同じ日本の織物工場と提携して、カハラ独自のフィラメントレーヨンを作成しました。それをハワイで裁断し、縫製したモデルとなります。
